"Hardcore Hippie"

Well, today I'm taking cloth diapering to the next level. Today, we begin using cloth wipes!

I was too overwhelmed with everything to try them when I started using CD's but now that we have that all established I figured it's time to move on to the next step. I don't anticipate it being a big deal. Pretty much the only difference is that now I'll toss my wipes in the wet bag with the diaper instead of throwing them away in the trash. Hey, it may even make things simpler. When I was purchasing the wipes today at Mama's Hip another CDing momma heard me saying "We'll see how I like it..." and she said, "Oh, you will love it!". I'm sure I will, and it's always nice to have a little encouragement for my like-minded mommas :)

Quick update about my "supply" drama from my last post: Things seem to be getting back to normal. I'm chalking that fiasco up to crazy schedule throwing everything off. Anyway, crisis diverted... for now. Thanks for all of my sweet friends that offered encouragement and support while I was having my freak out! I'm sure I'll be needing it again someday....

That's all for now... I'm off to chase around my busy girl! :)

By request...

I wasn't aware of a difference between "co-sleeping" and "bed-sharing" before I read Mayim Bialik's blog about it.
Technically we are bed-sharers,too, but out of habit I still call it co-sleeping. Whatever the label, it works great for us & I wouldn't do it any other way!

You should read this.

I saw these online today and I loved what I saw so much that I decided I should share...

MSN article - Home Births Rising and a related blog/artcile from Mayim Bialik (aka Blossom) - Why Women Shouldn't Fear Home Birth

[I've read a few other posts by Mayim and it seems we have similar views on many things parenting related (i.e. co-sleeping).]

*In case this needs to be said...

When I share things like this I am in no way suggesting that my choices/opinions are superior to others. I simply believe that women should be made aware of their options regarding childbirth. I just can't stand the thought of something that is such a natural, amazing experience being made into a scary, helpless situation. Sadly, it seems like the majority of women these days don't realize they have a choice beyond just showing up at the hospital and waiting for instruction.
Empower yourself - be informed!

Oh, bloggery!

Hello there, blog... I'm sorry I've been neglecting you. I'm a very busy lady but I am making a promise to you, right now, that I will make more time to give you the attention you deserve!

I'm re-inspired by a lovely friend that asked me today where I blog because she was going to start a blog of her own. At that moment I realized that I haven't been keeping up with mine as I should/want and I decided to look back on a few of my old posts. I just chose a random one and glanced over 2 or 3 of them and they made me smile. It was great to look back and read about my pregnancy, to reminisce about the precious moments of anticipation of my sweet little baby girl. It's also cool seeing the things I wondered about what my baby would be like since I know her from the outside so well now. So then I thought to myself, "Self, you should really make time to write about everything that's happening now, as you're getting to know your baby, so you can remember all of THESE fun details!". Well, Self, you made a good point! So here I am :)

The only thing is... lunch is about over and I'm leaving work early today to meet Oma & the kiddos at the park since it's nice out so I don't really have time to start catching up at this very moment. But at least I've set the promise in stone - erh, in blog - so now I'm committed to follow through.

So, as Tigger says, TTFN ;)

Ducts - for tears and milk!

Sometimes Auria won't nap unless mommy holds her and today has been one of those days. Now, understand, this not a complaint whatsoever, I love holding and snuggling with my baby girl and I'm happy to do it all day long.... it just doesn't make for the most productive of days. *Ususally I'd put her in the Moby in this situation but it's in Daddy's car and he had to work today :/

So, on these kinds of days when I can't get much done, I tend to browse the internet quite a bit. Today I was going back and reading some of my older blogs from when I was pregnant and I came across this one.
"...I wasn't asleep for very long before my alarm went off but it was just long enough for a short little dream. In this sweet little dream I saw her! I saw myself in the hospital, just a few hours after delivery, holding my beautiful, perfect, baby girl on my chest! :) :) :) She wasn't tiny, but she wasn't huge either - she was just right! She didn't have a ton of hair but she did have a nice, dark covering on her cute noggin. She was just snuggled up on my chest with her little fist tucked under her chin... it was absolutely precious! I didn't see details of her features but I remember thinking that she was the perfect combination of Josh and me..."

When I read this I couldn't help but tear up because I realized it was her! Everything about that description is exactly my Auria! I'd hoped at the time that somehow I really was getting a glimpse at my baby girl and to realize now that I did... I dunno, it just makes me emotional. Anyway, for anyone that may have read that blog I just thought I'd share that with you ;)

Okay so milk production update: It's working! I feel fuller each time she's ready to feed now so that's definitely a good sign. Also, I'm noticing more milk mess on her face when she's finished nursing, which to me says she's probably getting more than she's used to. I'm going to experiment with Auria's next feeding and just give her a bottle (of boob juice) so I can just pump and get a better idea of exactly how much more I'm making. I know it's probably only the difference of 15-30ml's (.5-1oz) but I'll take any increase I can get! I'm assuming that as I continue to take this supplement over the course of the month that my supply should continue to increase a little more and hopefully when I've finished this prescription I've established enough to sustain her appetite.

Last thing before I go - I'm hoping, by some miracle, my cd's I ordered online will arrive this afternoon! They're supposed to be here on Monday or Tuesday so I'll actually be a couple of days behind on my planned timeline, oopsie! All I can think about lately is cd's and I can't wait to get started with my experiment! :)
